I'm happy to report that two more chapters are now supported by slidesets:
http://x3dgraphics.com/slidesets/index.php
10. (.pdf) (.odp) Geometry Part 3: Geometry2D Nodes (50 slides)
11. (.pdf) (.odp) Lighting and Environment Nodes (73 slides)
Furthermore all of the slidesets are now under a different open-source
Creative Commons license, which is more appropriate for educational content.
Software and X3D scenes remain under a FreeBSD open-source license.

A few new errata were found and corrected for chapters 10 and 11:

Updates to the X3D-Edit authoring tool continue on a weekly basis.
X3D GeoSpatial nodes are fully supported, Distributed Interactive
Simulation (DIS) nodes are undergoing testing, and the Humanoid
Animation (H-Anim) component is underway. The entire application
was also upgraded from Netbeans 6.0 to 6.1.

The book examples have also been updated for these two chapters:

Finally the book is available both in print and electronic copies,
same price. Links are online at the X3D for Web Authors home page,

Hopefully educators and students are finding all this support helpful.
Questions, comments and improvements are welcome.
all the best, Don
